Vacation Vibes: Easy Hawaiian Beach Style OOTD

Aloha again, my friends! Today's style post comes with an epic story filled with love for a pair of sandals, their final moments, fire ants, tears of pain and a new pair of Hawaii slippahs. Full story below, after the story of this outfit!

Like many other people, I live a fairly frugal lifestyle. Yes, I love buying new clothes just as much as anyone but I'm also very practical about my purchases. Example, I didn't buy a new bathing suit this year. Many people buy a new bathing suit every year, if they're privileged enough to take a tropical vacation. I couldn't justify spending money on a suit because I had 4 perfectly good ones from previous years. Why am I telling you this?

I'm recycling a lot of pieces in this post today!...

This top is about a year old but I wear it often with a blazer and slacks/jeans for work. I tend to always wear something over it just because the back is completely open but it doubles as a great summer top for that reason. These pants were purchased on my trip to Hawaii last year! They're from my favorite boutique, Mahina but these ones I bought it in Kailua and not Haleiwa. I've worn these pants over the summer in my first ever photo shoot in Seattle. I love that they're relaxed but easy to dress up on the beach.

Now for a tragic tale. My absolute favorite pair of sandals broke after my first outfit photoshoot with Cindy. I walked barefoot over toward town and ended up buying my first ever Hawaiian slippahs. If you don't know what those are, see the last photo above! They are a staple in every Hawaiian home because they are very affordable (about $10), they float in the water and they're easy to wash! They're also very resilient. I bought them with the intention of wearing them to the next few locations and then removing them once there. Going barefoot because they didn't really match my outfits.

Well, the almighty powers at be had another plan! I got through all of two photos until I was jumping in pain from tiny pricks all up my feet. I had stepped in a fire ant colony. Yes, it was incredibly painful!

So, I adapted. Embraced my new found slippahs and made it work! Many many thanks for Cindy for coaching me through the pain and working with me through my trauma. Now every time I look at these photos, it's a kind reminder that not everything goes to plan and you need to work with your surroundings, be adaptable and every little thing, is gonna be alright.

Sophisticated Casual with Crystal Touches

Hello darlings! I'll be going back and forth between my Hawaii OOTD and my daily OOTDs to keep things fresh but, also reliving my Hawaii vacation. Today's outfit is something I wore this weekend while running my errands. I didn't have anything taxing to take care of so I stuck to a cute top, bottoms and flats while I walked through Michaels and Fred Meyers.

My youngest sister and I have similar styles but she tends to go a bit more preppy while I always add a bit of a boho flare to it. I'm always adding a crystal for love, lucky or energy. I grab something that connects me with the earth because this dreamer needs grounding. In this case... I grabbed four. I'm the accessories queen, after all!

For this shoot, I'm again super proud of myself...

Hawaiian Breezy Skort for the Win

Aloha, my lovely friends! I'm not in Hawaii anymore, something that pains me ever day, but I had the privilege of working with a local photographer to commemorate my trip. I got the photos back! A special thanks to Miss Cindy Marie for working with me on this trip and my friend Rylie for dealing with my wardrobe panic attacks.

Since I'm a newer blogger, I'm still learning. Through every interaction, collaboration and event. Meeting Cindy was not only a delight but also a blessing. I felt like I had a local friend in the neighborhood! She was kind enough to shoot three outfits, give us hiking options and her favorite food recommendations. #AcaiBowlsForTheWin!

In short, if you're on Oahu, you should get in touch with her. She does beautiful family portraits, kids birthdays, weddings, senior portraits and (now) lifestyle shoots. Check her out!

On to the first of my Aloha outfits, right? Let's go!...

That Preppy 60s Vibe

Hello, my lovely friends! This photo shoot has many accomplishments attached to it. To start with, I took these photos myself. Me, my tripod and little remote (Thanks, Dad!). Despite having a blog and very social lifestyle, I'm actually a private person. Packing up my stuff, driving to a park and photographing myself in front of others gave me complete and utter anxiety. However, I did it! I did it, guys. I kept repeating "you're doing this for your readers" and I got the courage to do it. Oye.

I learned a ton and I hope to get the courage to do it again. It was such a beautiful day, I couldn't pass it up.

I'll chat about my second success after talking about my outfit! ...

Beach Hydration 101

Hello, my lovely friends! I'm back to the cold and rain lingering Seattle but my heart is still watching surfers on the North Shore in Oahu. I've had a few questions about my trip and they both struck up blog post ideas! So, thank you to my wondering IG followers for asking! You guys have the best ideas.

When it comes to traveling, I'm a hydration junkie. I openly admit it. Airplanes suck the moisture right out of your skin. Which is why I always go prepared. For this past trip, we went from not seeing the light of day for 4 months to maximum sun exposure. Yes! Salt and sand are great natural exfoliants but mixed with the sun can be a lot.

I digress - hydration junkie...

Vacation Vibes: OOTD Hawaiian Style

Aloha, my lovely friends! If you're keeping up with me on IG, you know I've had a few changes this past week. I changed my personal account to private and made the decision to officially make P2 my primary account. Having two was too much to try and keep up with.

You'll also know that I'm back from Hawaii and, though I tried, I didn't post a single blog post while I was out there.... Not one. Haha! Not according to plan but that's all right. I got to sit back and enjoy my vacation. I'm still trying to figure out my blogging and social media posting. Being on a break was nice to find a great routine to for uploading.

My outfit...

This outfit was taken after the beach and before we headed out for acai bowls and hiking. I was luckily to have my friend snag these before we ran out the door. When I'm in Hawaii/Vacation, I don't wear make up because at any moment I will jump in the water. It's not practical when we know we'll be out hiking too so I've got a fresh face for you today.

I also tend to go a little boho while in Hawaii. I completely reject all things pants related. It's shorts or nothing at all! These shorts are old too! I've had them for at least the past 6-7 years and you'l never guess from where (see below). My striped tank was a purchase I made two days in at my favorite boutique on the Island, Mahina in Haleiwa. Cardigan is also super old but a dear friend from summer nights and I don't know if I'll ever get rid of it because it holds a lot of great memories. "Slippahs" were also purchased after my trusty old sandals broke! You can buy them at almost any store in Oahu but I'll find a pair and link them below. I will be keeping them because they have a ridiculous store that I'll be sharing in a future post.
