Sophisticated Casual with Crystal Touches

Hello darlings! I'll be going back and forth between my Hawaii OOTD and my daily OOTDs to keep things fresh but, also reliving my Hawaii vacation. Today's outfit is something I wore this weekend while running my errands. I didn't have anything taxing to take care of so I stuck to a cute top, bottoms and flats while I walked through Michaels and Fred Meyers.

My youngest sister and I have similar styles but she tends to go a bit more preppy while I always add a bit of a boho flare to it. I'm always adding a crystal for love, lucky or energy. I grab something that connects me with the earth because this dreamer needs grounding. In this case... I grabbed four. I'm the accessories queen, after all!

For this shoot, I'm again super proud of myself...

Hawaiian Breezy Skort for the Win

Aloha, my lovely friends! I'm not in Hawaii anymore, something that pains me ever day, but I had the privilege of working with a local photographer to commemorate my trip. I got the photos back! A special thanks to Miss Cindy Marie for working with me on this trip and my friend Rylie for dealing with my wardrobe panic attacks.

Since I'm a newer blogger, I'm still learning. Through every interaction, collaboration and event. Meeting Cindy was not only a delight but also a blessing. I felt like I had a local friend in the neighborhood! She was kind enough to shoot three outfits, give us hiking options and her favorite food recommendations. #AcaiBowlsForTheWin!

In short, if you're on Oahu, you should get in touch with her. She does beautiful family portraits, kids birthdays, weddings, senior portraits and (now) lifestyle shoots. Check her out!

On to the first of my Aloha outfits, right? Let's go!...

That Preppy 60s Vibe

Hello, my lovely friends! This photo shoot has many accomplishments attached to it. To start with, I took these photos myself. Me, my tripod and little remote (Thanks, Dad!). Despite having a blog and very social lifestyle, I'm actually a private person. Packing up my stuff, driving to a park and photographing myself in front of others gave me complete and utter anxiety. However, I did it! I did it, guys. I kept repeating "you're doing this for your readers" and I got the courage to do it. Oye.

I learned a ton and I hope to get the courage to do it again. It was such a beautiful day, I couldn't pass it up.

I'll chat about my second success after talking about my outfit! ...

Beach Hydration 101

Hello, my lovely friends! I'm back to the cold and rain lingering Seattle but my heart is still watching surfers on the North Shore in Oahu. I've had a few questions about my trip and they both struck up blog post ideas! So, thank you to my wondering IG followers for asking! You guys have the best ideas.

When it comes to traveling, I'm a hydration junkie. I openly admit it. Airplanes suck the moisture right out of your skin. Which is why I always go prepared. For this past trip, we went from not seeing the light of day for 4 months to maximum sun exposure. Yes! Salt and sand are great natural exfoliants but mixed with the sun can be a lot.

I digress - hydration junkie...

Vacation Vibes: OOTD Hawaiian Style

Aloha, my lovely friends! If you're keeping up with me on IG, you know I've had a few changes this past week. I changed my personal account to private and made the decision to officially make P2 my primary account. Having two was too much to try and keep up with.

You'll also know that I'm back from Hawaii and, though I tried, I didn't post a single blog post while I was out there.... Not one. Haha! Not according to plan but that's all right. I got to sit back and enjoy my vacation. I'm still trying to figure out my blogging and social media posting. Being on a break was nice to find a great routine to for uploading.

My outfit...

This outfit was taken after the beach and before we headed out for acai bowls and hiking. I was luckily to have my friend snag these before we ran out the door. When I'm in Hawaii/Vacation, I don't wear make up because at any moment I will jump in the water. It's not practical when we know we'll be out hiking too so I've got a fresh face for you today.

I also tend to go a little boho while in Hawaii. I completely reject all things pants related. It's shorts or nothing at all! These shorts are old too! I've had them for at least the past 6-7 years and you'l never guess from where (see below). My striped tank was a purchase I made two days in at my favorite boutique on the Island, Mahina in Haleiwa. Cardigan is also super old but a dear friend from summer nights and I don't know if I'll ever get rid of it because it holds a lot of great memories. "Slippahs" were also purchased after my trusty old sandals broke! You can buy them at almost any store in Oahu but I'll find a pair and link them below. I will be keeping them because they have a ridiculous store that I'll be sharing in a future post.

Striped Tank - Mahina (similar) // Black High Waisted Shorts - Forever21 (olddddd, similar) // Cardigan - Pink.Rose (old, similar) // Hawaiian Slippahs (RIP my other sandals. Haha!)

Spring Biker Chic

Black Leather Jacket Floral Peplum

Hello my lovely friends. Two things: I can't believe it's the end of February and I honestly can't wait for Spring. So even though it's freezing here and we're expecting another week of snow, I pushed through the cold for this posts pictures because I love it.

This outfit is very... ME. A beautiful mix of romantic and edgy. I feel comfortable and like myself in it.

Girly Business Vibes In Wide Leg Trousers

River Island Sailor Pants OOTD

River Island Sailor Pants OOTD

Hello, my lovely friends! Long story very short - I'm obsessed with these pants and I've decided to try and give my posts a different vibe to them. This past weekend I researched and youtube'd dozens of videos on editing photos. My college days have surpassed a great deal of time so I decided it was time to catch up. I miss my photography days.

Speaking of, my younger sister has been such a champ this winter. She has been kind enough to put up with me on my quest for the perfect photo locations. I have so much fun laughing with her throughout these shoots.

As for these PANTS!...

Valentine's Day Outfit

Good morning, my lovely friends! It's a frigid Valentine's Day in the PNW. Not because I don't have anyone to spend the day with! Simply because there's still snow on the ground.

My sister shot these pictures of me right as it started to snow. I don't think we've ever had a faster session. My outfit today is a mix of new and very old...

Valentine's Day Beauty Prep

Hello, my lovely friends! The snow in the city crazyyy, in Seattle, that means the whole city is shut down. Literally. I can barely walking down our steep hill so forget driving. Getting up is a terrible work out.

So, instead of prepping and hosting an awesome Galentine's Day/P2 Anniversary Party, I'm having a not-so-equally fun in-home beauty treatment day. Don't worry, it's still gonna be awesome! I'm using my favorite beauty products to make my skin super soft, clean and hydrated for winter.

Here's what we're talking about today:

- Face wash
- Exfoliant
- Facial Steamer
- Face Mask
- Moisturizer

This is sure to get your skin nice and prepped for Valentine's Day!

Snowflake Snow Day Sweater

Snowflake Sweater Hunter Boots

Good morning, my lovely friends! This post is exciting for me to share. I overcame my dear and forced myself out of my apartment to snap these photos all by myself. It hadn't snowed for almost 24 hours, then the biggest flakes started fall. Naturally, I touched up my make up, grabbed my camera and tripod and walked outside.

If you're not keeping up with the PNW and our weather, normally Seattle gets about 4-5 inches of snow a year. Last Monday, we got that in a day. We are not at all prepared for this type of weather. Our streets are hilly and our drains overflow. We just don't get snow like this. Rain? Yes! Snow? .... not since the 60s.

Many of us are winter sports fans. Most of my friends are skiers, snowboarders or snowshoers. I'm not one of them. Therefore, I don't have the gear. So, I'm super thankful I invested in a pair of Hunters this year.

Snowed In Sweater

Free People Bralette

Good afternoon, my lovely friends! Since we're snowed in, I'm definitely not wearing cute dresses and impractical booties. When I'm venturing out, I'm in my Hunter boots and puffy winter coat. Thermals are essential. It's cold, rest assured, but nothing that we can't manage. As Seattleites, we're more concerned about the snow draining safely into the Sound and making sure our local businesses don't suffer than the roads. The city is still walkable. I'm actually meeting my friend, S, at a local cafe in a few minutes.

Since I'm speaking practically, I thought I'd share what I'm wearing around the house....

Frenchy 1901 Midi Skirt & Cashmere Sweater

Hello my lovely friends! I've become obsessed with midi skirts. It's official. They are incredibly versatile from season to season and they're surprisingly cute on a petite frame, like me! Being all of 5'3, mini skirts tend to be just above the knee. Long skirts tend to be 3 inches too long and need to be worn with a heel, always. Midis though, this is a sweet spot that doesn't seem to need that alteration that is dreaded by all the shorties in the world.

Hence my infatuation with all things midi.

5 Perfectly Pink Nudes for Valentine's Day

Hello my lovely friends! You all know these are my absolute favorite blog posts to write. Anything where I get to create a super fun collage of beauty finds and gifts makes my whole day. This post is a mix of high to low end products. Hopefully fitting for any budget. Every so often we all want to splurge but sometimes there's nothing better than a $5 tube of lipstick from the Target down the street.

Empowered Women & the Perfect Blazer

Hello my lovely friends. Hope you're all well, and that you had a terrific weekend. I got so much accomplished. I'm super proud of myself! I didn't waste my whole weekend. It was filled with early mornings, closet clean outs (thanks, Marie Kondo), a hair appt and bootcamp.

Previously I mentioned that I'm in a non-profit organization. I've been a member for the past 6 years and I've been in a leadership position for the past 5 years. Next year will be my 7th year and it's my last active year within the Junior League of Seattle and it's a little bitter sweet. It's been a wild ride for me. I've learned so much about non-profits, leadership, volunteering and about women empowerment. Which is how today's outfit comes to play.

My Accidental Trip to Iceland

Writing another post from Iceland, dear friends! What an adventure this week has been. After traveling out to Paris and getting stuck on the runway for 3 hours (due to snow), my Reykjavik layover flight was long gone by the time we arrived in the icy city. So, I was driven out to the Iceland Air Natura Hotel, which is an hour away from the airport but a 10 minute drive to the heart of Reykjavik. Iceland Air was kind enough to pick up the tab, comp dinner, breakfast and transportation since they couldn't hold our missed flight.

If you've read my blog before, you know my love for traveling. Iceland has been on my bucket list for the past 3 years, after a layover from Amsterdam. When they let us out on the tarmac I was hypnotized by the beautiful greenery and the crazy currency. I was looking at 3500 krónas for Pringles and I had no idea what the conversion was. So being able to have the opportunity for quick trip had me absolutely thrilled.

Midi Pleated Brown Skirt & Glasses

Hello my lovely friends. Today was a really great day of shooting with my sister and I finally feel like I'm getting the hang of this whole "model thing". I don't consider myself a model at all and I spent about 10 hours this weekend researching, youtube watching and transforming my poses to be more flattering. They aren't perfect but I'm so happy with how they turned out. Thanks to my wonderful youngest sister who's still jet lagged, like me, but also getting through a cold!

This outfit makes me so happy. Primarily because I have a memory associated with this skirt now. I bought this warm brown pleated midi at a store in Paris with my mom and sister. It's beyond comfortable and, worn with my over the knee Marc Fishers, warm too! I've become obsessed with pairing it with a number or tops and accessories. I can't wait to wear this all year round. It's a great neutral that can be pushed into Spring and Summer very easily.

My Recent Trip to Paris: What to do in Winter

What to do in Paris when it's Cold.

This is the question everyone has been asking me since I got back. Despite Paris being hundreds of years older than anything in America, believe it or not, it's quite up to date on heating! I know, crazy and I'm sure I just blew your mind. It was quite a concern going into a few places, more specifically Notre Dame. Though fictional, I think I had Quasimodo and the 1800s on the brain. It's so easy to be transported through time in Paris.

My Recent Trip to Paris: What I Ate

What I ate.

Yummmmm. My goodness, I have been spoiled, my lovely friends! My sweet cousins we're so kind and really treated me to a true Parisian cuisine experience. Each meal was prepared and cooked morning, noon and night. Surprisingly enough, locals don't like to over complicate their food but they do like a nice warm meal surrounded my family or friends. Many of my meals were based around appetizers and warm drinks. Who could complain about that?

My Recent Trip to Paris: What I Wore

What I Wore In Paris Winter

If you're following me on instagram, you probably caught a sneak peek of me out and about in Paris! I was fortunate enough to snag an amazing roundtrip deal from Seattle to Paris via Iceland Air and took advantage of having family in the city. Merci, Sandrine, Frederique and Stephane!

My darling cousins were kind enough to host my youngest sister and my mom for 4 nights in the city of love. I ate more bread, macarons and wine then I ever have in my whole life those 5 days but, my word, I was happy. It was bitter cold but my long grey sweater dress, thermals and my S13 puffy jacket saved me from freezing to death. Dramatic much? Always.

After try SO hard gather my whole trip into one post, I've realized it just won't work! So I've broken this post up into 3 sections: What I wore. What I ate. What to do in Paris when it's cold. Today's post is all about what I wore on my day out and about in Paris.

Catching up with Corduroy Play Shorts

I'm writing this post at 6:36am from the Reykjavik airport. I arrived about 30 minutes ago from a 7 hour flight from Seattle. I don't sleep on planes and as much as I think I did... I know I didn't. Despite the minor back pain and dehydration, I'm surprisingly awake enough to know I shouldn't get a coffee before my next flight. I'm tired enough to still keep my eyes shut and try sleep.

Easy Chicken Instant Pot Soup

Instant Pot Easy Chicken Soup

Maybe I'm lazy. Maybe it's exhaustion from a full day of work or because I'm hoping to get a jump start on cooking. Maybe it's habit. I don't really know. All I know is that every time I go to Trader Joe's I always pick up their container of Mirepoix.

What is mirepoix? The french word, mirepoix, doesn't actually translate to anything in English. However, the italian word for mirepoix is Soffritto which means "to sauté" or "stir fry". The term is also know as the "Holy Trinity" of cooking but to us in the good ol' US of A... it simply means chopping carrots, celery and onion.

Each region seems to have it's own special blend for this mix but I prefer the french base and a hefty amount of olive oil to get a nice even browning coat.

Fluffy Grey Sweater & Blue Jeans

sweater with scarf

sweater with laugh

Can we just have a moment to say "yay!" for sisters? Both my sisters have been super supportive of me and of Peplums & Pie in 2018. My youngest sister, Sarah, is always so kind and willing to take my photos but she's also always ready to make me laugh. We could be doing absolutely nothing and the next thing we know, we're doubled over with the giggles.

Thank goodness for sisters and the work out of a good laugh.

Today I have another outfit where I'm wearing pants! During 2018 there were a lot of dresses and skirts. My challenge is to re-style many of those basic pieces, but I'd like to incorporate more everyday styles to the blog. Which is why today's outfit is not only two pieces but also is a great example on how to mix warm and cool tones together.

Woodsy Plaid Jacket & PomPom Beanie

Plaid Jacket outfit with pompom beanie

Happy New Year, friends! What a week! This New Year is going to be amazing, I can feel it! For the past two years I've created a private vision board on pinterest. I update it through out the year, add to it and edit it. This year I've got a lot of big things I'm looking for which means I'll be cutting my budget to save up. Which is an exciting challenge for me, and for Peplums & Pie! I'll be doing a lot more thrift shopping this year as well as recycling my clothes to show how to re-style pieces with other outfits.

You guys know I love a good challenge. Especially a good budget challenge. Speaking of, this woodsy lumberjack-eque plaid jacket is on sale. Let the challenge begin!
