Thrifted Red Leather Jacket & Blanket Scarf

front of outfit

There's nothing more that I love than a thrifted or secondhard leather jacket. First off, it gives something old a brand new life. Two, who doesn't love a gorgeous vintage jacket?

This jacket screams 1980s Michael Jackson. With it's bright vibrant color, mild shoulder pads and tiny front silver chain zip-pocket. I've spoken a lot about My Staple Black Leather Jacket. You've seen me wear it in a number of posts (I'll put some below for you crazy kids to enjoy). Even though my love is endless for that black zip up, this red guy has a special place in my heart.

When I bought this jacket, it was in pretty bad shape. It was rough, cracking and way more dull than it is now. I had to really work some magic to bring it back to life. It took about a month to get it the way it is now. About once every 3 months, or so, I have to work my magic again to make sure it maintains it quality.

I think that's why I love buying secondhand clothing so much. So often we throw things away because we think it's out of style or it's unfixable. To start, everything comes back. I've only been alive for 30 some odd years and I never, in my wildest dreams, saw the 90s making a come back. Yet, they're selling chokers at Nordstrom.

With some pieces, like my leather jacket, they're special because they're different. It's not something everyone else has and I love it more because of that. I've always liked pieces that aren't necessarily trending. No, I'm not the first woman to wear a red leather jacket. Anyone else a OUAT fan? But I do know that not everyone else has one right now and that's what makes it unique and stands out.

I've been wearing these knee high riding boots a lot. They're Tommy Hilfiger from last year, I believe. They're high, like 4', and I almost wish I had bought them in a half size bigger but I know they're still stretching out. Isn't that the worst? Waiting for shoes to stretch?

Would you guys be interested in knowing how I buy secondhand leather and doctor them up? Is that an interesting topic? Always wondering what you guys are thinking.
