Boho Vibes & That Black Jumpsuit Again...

Do you ever buy something and you think to yourself "I'm probably only going to wear this once", and then you wear it an average of 1-2 times a week? This black jumpsuit IS that purchase. No other outfit compares. There is nothing so comfortable or freeing.

It's so loose and carefree that it makes me look bigger than I am. Do I care? Absolutely not! It's a no thought, no mess, throw on and go dreamin' outfit. That is what this jumpsuit is.

I've paired this jump suit with quite a few styles so far. This one seems a little off the wall because of the patterns and colors. I've never quite been one to follow the rules when it comes to mix and matching. Sometimes I strongly debate with myself if I'm making my outfit work. To which I proudly wear my mind and decide I can make it work if I just believe it. Which is what happened with my crazy mix of patterns with this outfit.

Can we have a moment to appreciate blocked heels coming back? Like, yassssss. Not only are they cute but, for the love, the are comfortable! You could run in them and not die! These are quality reasons to buy and wear them everyday.

Items are listed below, along with a few other block heels that I'm eyeing.

2017 Seattle Fashion Week & that Jumpsuit (again)

The weekend before this last was a special little treat. I got brunch with the girls, sat on a patio, drank white wine, went to a Cinco de Mayo gathering and then got the privilege to attend this year's Seattle Fashion Week Show at the Seattle Art Museum.

I went alone

As strange as this is going to sound, I had an amazing time! I wasn't texting a bunch of friends or nor was there any awkwardness about the experience of going to an event alone. I felt, surprisingly,  comfortable and relaxed, once I got there. I spoke with a few others that had media credentials. However, I neglected to give them my handle or any additional information on myself. I'm such a newb sometimes. On the upside, it was a terrific adventure. I learned what to do in the future in regards to networking. Oh meet and greets, will you ever get easier?

As you can see above, Seattle Magazine asked to take my picture for their IG stories. I was SO honored and excited that I responded with "Of course!". I posed as naturally as I could. He thanked me, I thanked him and I walked away! Remember when I was talking about being a newbie at this?

The show set up was gorgeous and I love how they had the stage set in the foyer of the museum. The beautiful new wooden sculpture above the stage was breathtakingly whimsical with a nice edge to the Latin inspired show. Music pumping through the speakers that shook the pillars and made everyone want to get up and dance. It was well received from the audience.

My make up was more dramatic than usual because I let my outfit hold style and not high fashion. I used my Anastasia Beverly Hill Modern Romance Palette, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, Clinique Lash Fattening Mascara and, of course, my YSL Lip Stain #7. Swoooon. It's the best rose nude I have! I also used Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powder duo and a Tarte blush in Paaarty. Which I found appropriate.

As for my outfit, what a surprise! My Mahina black jumpsuit for the win, again. I love it and it's clearly versatile! My kimono is a Rack find and I don't know if I'll be able to find the exact one, as it was sold out the last time I checked, but I know I can find similar ones. My outfit dets are below!

Jumpsuit - Mahina Boutique Haleiwa, HI (similar, similar, similar) // Kimono - Wild Pearl

Pink Sandals - Nine West // Gold Earrings - Heirloom

Honey Goat Cheese and Macrina's Greek Olive Baguette

Peplums & Pie: Honey Goat Cheese and Greek Olive Baguette // Anthropologie marble monogram cheese board // wildflowers // wine candle //peplumsandpie.com

What's sweet and savory and looks magical next to wildflowers? This monogrammed cheese board. Honestly, it's going to blow your mind, friends. It's a very simple spread but with specific items which you can find aaaaallllmost anywhere.

Here's what I've got on the cheese board (which was a Christmas present from my parents).
  • Honey Goat Cheese
  • Macrina's Greek Olive Baguette
  • Geek Olives
My recipe for honey goat cheese is simple: buy it at your local store. Only original goat cheese? That's okay! Simply cream together your goat cheese and local honey. I get mine at the farmers market in the next town over, Ballard Farmer's Market. They have an incredible wildflower honey from Gaia's Harmony Farm out in Snohomish Valley.

Peplums & Pie: Honey Goat Cheese and Greek Olive Baguette // Anthropologie marble monogram cheese board // greek olives //peplumsandpie.com

The Greek olive loaf baguette is something you can buy in most stores. I tend to go to the bakery on the other side of upper Queen Anne. There are multiple locations around Seattle and I recommend stopping in and grabbing a loaf or one of their treat if you're in town visiting. When I have friends staying with me or staying in an airbnb close by I always pick up a baguette.

The Greek olives, get excited, are from ... Safeway! So elegant and chic, right? Haha! Honestly, they're so good though. They compliment the goat cheese really well.

The cheese board is from Anthropologie and is monogrammed for whatever letter you'd like. It's made of marble so it's wonderfully durable and it's also super easy to clean. Which is important when you don't own a dishwasher. My little olive bowl is a souvenir that I picked up in a tiny tile and pottery shop in Toledo, Spain. I love it. I have amazing memories from that day whenever I look at it. The gold pineapple cheese knife is from a set my grandmother had.

What's on your favorite cheese board?

Loose Floral Peplum & Pink Strap Sandals

Peplums & Pie: Loose Floral Peplum & Pink Strap Sandals // Vince Camuto Tiered Ruffle Floral Top // H&M Jeans // Nine West Pink Sandals // peplumsandpie.com

Hello friends! I have so much lined up for the month of May that I might do a post on all of the amazing and exciting activities on my list. It's finally nice out. I didn't even wear a jacket today, never the less sleeves. It felt like bliss.

I'm embracing my floral side since I can't think of anything more appealing than sitting and reading a book in a garden or a park. Being outdoors is all I can think about so I try to bring that mindset to work with me. This floral silky top by Vince Camuto is sold out almost everywhere. I was able to find it at two locations so definitely hurry and grab it before it's completely gone. They do still make this top is solid colors, which I've been eyeing. They're really comfortable, airy, loose and perfect for work days when you really don't want to think.

My shoes. You've seen them in my Easter Sunday post from last month. Let me make this as clear as possible: I loveeeee these sandals. Can I run in them? No - but man, o man, can I walk in them. I think that's something a lot of people forget about Nine West. They're a quality brand that have been around forever. Many people don't know this but Nine West was originally founded by Vince Camuto and his partner. It's now owned by Jones but their shoes continue to be easy to wear and staples in my wardrobe. I own 3 pairs of Nine West pumps and these Sandals are a nice addition to that collection.

As for jeans, this will blow your mind. These are $20 jeans from H&M. Boom!

Easy as spring should be, friends. 💖

Sleeveless Shift Dress & Moroccan Amber

Sleeveless Sheath Dress & Moroccan Amber: Peplums & Pie // Cupcakes & Cashmere Dress // Moroccan Amber Necklace // Vince Camuto Black Sandals // Marc by Marc Jacob Watch // Gold Earrings // peplumsandpie.com

Jinxed. I jinxed myself by jokingly saying "maybe I have laryngitis".

... I have laryngitis.

This week has tested my speaking limits. I cancelled all of my plans this weekend to rest up and not talk... turns out, I try to talk to myself all the time! I did keep two appts. One was my pedicure and the second was a trip to the grocery store. I did really well by Sunday night and, oddly enough, Monday! Thank goodness for ping.

Today is the first day I'm not a hot mess at work. I did my hair, make up, wore impractical shoes for the sake of style, and I eased it all down with a sheath dress. It's no secret that I'm petite. There are days I wish I had named this blog Petite and Peplums but alas, I love dessert too much.

The trick to buying the perfect sheath dress is to make sure you have about an inch of fabric on either sides of your hips. This is how I make sure I'll be comfortable in it all day. However, I will warn you, I have been shopping with a few friends that are more blessed on top. If you are like my friends, it helps to go up a size because it'll give you more length on the bottom hem and it will also be more comfortable in the arms. It's hard to buy things outside of your regular size but I always say "no one actually sees the number but you".

My necklace is from my trip to Morocco last summer. It's Amber so it's a bit heavy but it makes the outfit. I love big chunky jewelry. For my post on how to layer jewelry check it out here.

My fingers are cross for my voice to come back this week!

Boyfriend Jeans & Brown Accents

Boyfriend Jeans & Brown Accents: Sleeveless Top // Caslon Boyfriend Jeans // Skinny Brown Gap Belt // Sam Edelman Brown Block Heel Sandals // Madewell Tote // BP Sunglasses // peplumsandpie.com

Round two of being sick and here's my outfit. *squeakily laugh again*

Speaking shouldn't be hard. In my mind, it's not a difficult task. However, my vocal cords/voice box says otherwise. I'm practically speechless. My voice sounds as if it's been tormented and beaten. To go along with the lovely sound of squeaky self suffering, my eyes have been watering at random so I've gone make-up free to work for 2 days straight. And since this is lifestyle and style blog, you, darling gems, gets to see the ugly truth. I'm a hot mess. *squeak laugh squeaky squeak*

Now, I maybe at the tail end of my bug (or laryngitis, who knows? #dramatic) but I'm certainly not dead. Block heels shows a little mercy to the ill. Just enough of a boost to give me some confidence without makeup. Paired with my trendy boyfriend jeans, Madewell tote bag and sleeveless shell. I almost looked alive! Thank goodness for sunnies.

What do you do to rest up when you're under the weather?

Vince Camuto Floral Top & Tory Burch Minnie Flats

Peplums and Pie OOTD // First Spring Outfit for 2018 // Peplums & Pie // Vince Camuto Floral Top, STS jeans, skinny tan belt, Tory Burch Minnie Flats Tan, grey blazer H&M

This is a classic example of how my social media life is happier than I actually am. *laughs squeakily*

I got SO insanely sick on Sunday night. High fever, the room was spinning for hours and I could barely move all day. Then I lost my voice on Tuesday and I've sounded like the world most obnoxious squeaky mouse since! Anyone know how long it takes for your voice box to mend?

On top of that, on a personal note, you may have noticed that I haven't been documenting my outfits lately. That's because I've been a bit down this month for personal/family reasons. This month is a good reminder that life is all what YOU make of it. Who you keep, or, get to keep in it. A kind reminder to enjoy every moment you can.

As for my outfit today... I'm just gonna say it: Good lawdddddd... Spring took long enough to get here!

Really though, it took it's sweet time and now were being blessed with 80* days! It was here in a blink. Hallelujah! I am now in sleeveless tops, the best (and most expensive) flats that I've ever bought (review post here) and sunnies. Sunglasses to primarily cover up my dark circles from getting a bug and to hide my lack of make up.

Now, the blazer I wore primarily because I had a meeting with our top execs today. Additionally because our building is chilly in the mornings. I thought it tied well with my spring look. I'd like to do another post on how to wear florals this spring. Let me know your thoughts on that.

My Staple Black Leather Jacket

Nordstrom Caslon petite moto jacket // White BP Tee // Black Skinny Jeans // Black Vince Camuto Helled Sandals // YSL #10 Lipstain // Peplumsandpie.com

A well fitted leather jacket investment. Personally, I have three leather jackets but that's for another post. This post is on the essential black leather jacket. Why? It goes with everything! Yet, there are many styles, textures and variations of jackets. Which is why doing your research is important.

There are moto, biker, racing jackets, to name a view. There are vegan jackets, jackets made of lambskin, suede and cow leather. There's the hardware to decide. Made of silver, gold and, more recently, rose gold too! The options are endless and the elements that are pieced together to make your perfect style is up to you. I recommend trying on as many variations as possible to find your match.

My current jacket is from Nordstrom and it's a Nordstrom brand, Calson. The biggest selling point was that I was able to buy it in a petite. This is really hard to come by so I jumped at the opportunity to purchase it when it came back in stock. It's a moto inspired piece that has a front asymmetrical zip closure. It wouldn't be complete without my favorite feature: pockets. Not just any pockets but slide slit pockets that are big enough to fist my hands in or carry my lipstick. Perfect for cool Spring nights!

It's important to find a jacket that fits you well and that will blend in nicely with your wardrobe. This can be a bit tricky for some. Envisioning your wardrobe while you're shopping is hard. You often buy what you think you'll love. Then when you get home, try it on, only to realize "this isn't me at all". I assure you, we've all done it.

Definitely make sure to wear a standard everyday outfit when you go to try on. You'll thank yourself later.

Here are a few other outfits I've paired with my leather jacket:
Maroon Dress & Leather Jacket
White Dress & Leather Jacket (Bellevue Fashion Week)

Here's another post I did on Black Leather Jacket Inspirations! Happy hunting dear friends! I wish you the best of luck in your journey.

Baseball Season & A Casual Monday

Black Mariners Baseball Hat // Black Tee // BTS Jeans // Green Leather Crossbody Zara // Vince Slip ons // Peplumsandpie.com

Hot dogs, warm summer nights, daylight til 9pm, baseball pants, beer and our Seattle Mariners. That's right, it's baseball season! My second favorite season in Seattle because who doesn't love going to a nice n' easy family friendly event where they allow you to drink in the stands and dance to Macklemore with a moose?

Mariner's games are special for me. Every year I am privileged to host one of my oldest friends and her family to a weekend in Seattle. It's the one game of the year her husband is always looking forward to because he actually gets to watch a MLB team and my favorite game because I'm surrounded by my favorite chosen niece and nephew! A win/win. We dance, we yell, we laugh and eat garlic fries until we're stuffed.

This year, my friend is pregnant with little nugget number 3. They normally come up on my birthday but this year they'll have a 2 month old by that time. Not to mention a 2 year old and 4 year old. That's a lot! So we're postponing until later in the season and, again, I can't wait.

As for now, I've already got my first game booked. A lovely Monday night game, a great girlfriend and the promise of a cold beer and a red rope licorice (because I'm a 6 year old at heart). #excitement

In the meantime, here's my weekend outfit from last week. Another throw on and go outfit that always serves me well. Dets below. XOXO!

Vince Camuto White Dress & Easter Sunday 2018!

Vince Camuto White Dress with Pink Nine West Sandals and a Green Leather Handbag from Zara

Happy Easter, everyone!!! It's no surprise that I love getting dressed up. It doesn't happen often but when it does it's fun to go full prep. There's normally a bit of boho vibe in my wardrobe but, like I said, it's rare to dress nice.

This year is a surprisingly chill celebration. The plans are currently to be spent over at my parents house. Nothing too fancy or special but to spend time with people who mean most and, of course, dinner.

Easter always reminds me to be thankful. This year, won't go without thinking about my grandmother. Every year, since before I can remember, my first call has always been to her. She loved Easter and she loved getting dressed up to go to church. There were always tulips in her house at this time. Therefore, there are tulips in my home and I'm bringing them over to my mom today.

This dress is Vince Camuto and has since been sold out everywhere except for amazon (and it's on sale! I have a few similar ones listed below). I bought it at Nordstrom Rack during their last Clear the Rack sale. Which is when all sale items are an additional percent off. The best part about this dress is that it has pockets. It's also uncannily comfortable for a fit and flare.

Details are below, per the norm. What are you doing for Easter?!
