Plaid Wrap Mini Skirt & a Boatneck

Plaid Mini Skirt with Boatneck Top

Always behind on blogging... This I posted on IG last week. One of my favorite holiday skirts. Bought it at a thrift store a few years ago. It makes me happy and I think it's nostalgia. Growing up as a 90s child my fashion icons were Blossom Russo and Cher Horowitz. My divide between laid back boho and prep began at a very young age, to say the least.

I remember asking my mom for "Blossom shoes" for Christmas one year... my obsession remains. This Christmas I didn't ask for shoes or clothes. I asked for a pressure cooker and beret. I got the pressure cooker. TBD on how I procure the beret but I have my eye on a few.

In my last post I mentioned that I've been evaluating my priorities and lifestyles. This is my favorite time of year to do a mental check in on myself. Though, it's something I should be doing weekly, I opt for once a year for a huge review. Then I have little goals along the way. Last year my goal was to save a certain sum of money for an emergency fund. This year I am trying to be more financially savvy. Slow steps. Which is why January is being kicked off with a "No Spend Month". I've done a few of these in the past but it's a quirky challenge that has a lasting impact. It's how I hit my goal last year and was able to travel around Spain.

So expect more posts on clothes I own and very seldom stops at the local thrift store. In addition to getting back to my roots, sewing. Which I miss.

This outfit is the perfect start as every thing is either old or thrifted... okay, except my new necklace from Stella & Dot. See dets below.

Merry & Bright

Merry Christmas, dear friends. I desperately wanted to post this weekend but didn't bring my personal laptop with me. However, it was nice to spend the time away from social media for a few days and be with my family.

Traveling down to Portland is short. In the grand scheme of things, 3.5 hours of listening to Christmas carols is nothing compared to what others had to endure. It was easy to load up my car, had some quality time with my sister and (most importantly) didn't hit a single moment of traffic.

I'm always happy when I get the opportunity to go home. I try my best to go see my oldest friends and my chosen nieces and nephews. This year they all got books from their Auntie Alli. It's important to share adventures text, in my opinion. My job is to keep them always learning and growing and that's what I plan to do every step of the way.

New few days are going to be busy as I try to get back into my routine and do my annual evaluation of the year. I have to work on my budget for the year and planning out work our schedules, putting aside time for creativity and trips. It's my favorite time of the whole year. This past year was muddy and it's go as according to plan as I would have liked it to but I wasn't as off track as I could have been. Despite all of my personal obstacles, it could have been worse.

Cheers to you, friends. Hope you had a very blessed and happy holiday.

Warm Red Sweater and Distressed Jeans

Express Sweater with Black Jeans and Booties. Good Hair Day!

Express Sweater from the front. Paired with Black Jeans and Moto Boots.

Express Sweater. Black Jeans and motto boots.

Really good hair day.

Pretty behind on posting. I know none of you will be surprised but it's been a very busy week for me. I pray next year will be easier on me in both work and my personal life. Organization is going to be the key to next year.

Super excited because I've finally booked a vacation that's going to be both super active and incredibly chill. I literally can't wait. I need to book my airbnb but I think I might spend the lat few nights in a hotel. I'm realllllly excited but I will, of course, tell you all more about it after the holidays.

For now, let's talk about sweaters. More specifically... the perfect sweater Listen - nothing makes me happier than being kept nice and toasty warm in the winter. I am not a cold person. I don't play well when I have cold fingers and toes and can't feel my nose. (... that wasn't meant to rhyme.) That is why I love this lace up sweater. I am SO amped about it. The color, the warm and the style. LOVE.

I love being fully covered especially anything that'll cover my backside. It's the best. Dets are below. P.S. ... these jeans are literally my new favorite and I wore them 3 times this week. Je ne regrette rein.

Holiday Gift Guide for the Beauty Guru

5 Holiday Beauty Gifts for the Beauty Enthusiast // MAC Viva Glam // Tarte Blush // YSL Matte Liquid Lipstain // ABH Palette // Peplums & Pie

There was an article in the Huffington Post that I read quite a few years ago on how beauty impacts women even in the recession. It's commonly know as the "Lipstick Effect" which essentially states that despite a low economy, women will still by lipstick because it makes them feel attractive at a low cost with high results. It's fascinating that something so small can make you feel like a million bucks.

Which is why I have 2 lipsticks on the list for this gift guide. I would have added more but I had to stop myself because if I did, there would have been 10.

Beauty gifts are the perfect stocking stuffer or white elephant gift, especially a red. The MAC red I chose is very popular in the beauty society because it's a brick red and can go with any holiday event. Though both lipsticks are on the high end of the lip shelf, they are worth the extra dollars for two reasons: minimal application and moisturizing.

My favorite eye palette that I bought this year is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Renaissance Palette. I wrote a post on it here. I use it everyday. Literally. Not just saying that for fun. I really do use it every day and my favorite colors are Tempura, Red Ochre and Burnt Orange. I would buy any other palette by her if she made another warm tone set.

Best lipstain I've ever gotten is YSL Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte. I highly recommend. My collection continues to grow and I will probably buy more once spring hits. Pro Tip! If you buy from Nordstrom (in store), they can engrave your lid for free.

Vegans love Tarte products. Not only are they animal cruelty-free but they're environmentally friendly and their products always smell good. If you follow my IG you know how much I love their RainForest of the Sea lipstick collection. Their blushes are just as great and can last all day. My choice is Risque.

Last but not least, lotion. I genuinely appreciate getting quality body and hand lotion as gifts because I'm terrible at buying them for myself. This brand is terrific and a plant-based formula originally designed for children. It stays clear from nasty chemicals and made to soften all skin types. Did I mention they're hypoallergenic?

That's it friends! Happy Shopping!

Abalone Shell handmade necklace. Amethyst ring.

Green Sweater from Zulily. Full Outfit. Black tights and booties.

Green sweater from Zulily. Black Tights, Booties. Stella and Dot Party.

Holly Jolly Green! Hello friends.♥

This is a strange time of year for me. I've been busy since I started my new job but this is the first Christmas that I'm enjoying in Seattle. I've lived her for 6 years and this is the first year I feel the Christmas spirit. I listen to Holiday music in the car, sing to myself while waiting for the bus. I think and plan my outfits with the "holiday spirit".

Last Saturday my friend, A, held a Brunch & Bling party (clever, right?). Which is essentially a Stella & Dot party but with bubbles and brunch munchies. Who's going to pass that up? I love all of those things: champagne, food and jewelry.

I'll definitely share what I purchased at the get-together. I had a great time shopping and chatting up. It's nice to unwind every so often and do something special and girly.

My dress is one of my better purchases from Zulily. It's been the perfect statement quite a few times since fall. You'd think my shoulders would be cold but the dress is really warm. It has a sweater-like material to it. Definitely worth it. Dets are below. Hope you all have an amazing week!

Holiday Gifts Guide for the Traveler

Best Holiday Gift Guide for Travelers. 2017. Gold Water Bottle, Headphones. Passport holder. Cardigan from Nordstrom. Turkish Towel. Eiffel Tower Ornament.

Happy Tuesday, Travelers!

That's right! We all have one. We all know one. The avid travelers that can't sit still or has that itch that can't be scratched until they've either:

a) booked their next trip or
b) is booking their next trip

It's how they roll and you love them for it, each and everyday. You low key resent their IG account and yet can't wait to hear their stories at happy hour or brunch. This collection of gifts is mean for these trip-setters.

Complete with my personal favorite gift: A Turkish Towel. I take one of these on every trip I go on. It's fast drying, so perfect for a rainy day or beach day. It's stylish, so you can wear it as a scarf or a bathing suit wrap. It's light weight, so it's perfect as your airplane blanket for morning flights. It's honestly the perfect investment.

The remaining gifts are all designed for comfort, class and easy. A water bottle for the airport, hiking through island mountains or roaming the streets of artists. Headphones that keeps little cries from disturbing your sleep on long flights or taking a break in the park. The butter smooth leather passport holder for the trendy organizer. A destination ornament for the collector and a lusciously soft Barefoot dream hoody for cool nights by the ocean or cuddling up on evening flights.

Holiday Party Dresses 2017

Happy December!!! It's never too early to start dress shopping for Holiday Parties. I actually don't have a party that I'm planning on going to this year but I do have a charity fundraiser in February that I get to look nice for. I like getting a head start and it's a lot of fun to dream about going to company holiday parties.

This year I'm diggin' the red. Red is new. I literally own one red and black sweater and that's it. I've never owned a fitted red dress which is what I'm wander to this season. Both red dresses come in petite! I can't tell you how much I appreciate stores that sell petite. It's always the perfect hem.

The other two are ritzy and fun! They'd be perfect for New Years or an elegant winter wedding. That Lola ombre is dreamy. Picture yourself with a glass of champagne and a nice night out. It's everything.

Love to know what outfits others are going for this Holiday season.
