Seattle September Events & a Lavender Top

Clothing on girl in front of mirror. Lush Top, Joe's Jeans and Nine West Pumps.

Mondays are always tough for me, especially coming back from a 10 day trip abroad. If you're following my personal instagram, you know I've been all over Spain and Marrakesh. If not, don't you worry, I'll post about my time soon. The posts are being queued up this week.

This Monday wasn't as tough as previous days. A trick I discovered was coming back a day early. I flew home on a Saturday instead of a Sunday and forced myself to stay away til 9pm.

To my surprise, I woke up early on Monday. I made myself some tea, did my dishes from the night before and then took my time getting dressed and ready for work. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a morning person but work days are easier when I've gotten 8 hours of sleep. I've kept the routine for the past three days and I'm hoping I can make it stick during winter.

Since being back, my calendar is slowly filling up. Primarily with gym sessions and burger dates (my favorite). There are so many great events happening in the Seattle area during September. I can't wait. September is one of my favorite months in this state because it's still beautiful and warm until the end of the month. Often til the first week of October! I'll be praying for a kind winter this year with minimal downpours and more cool nights.

On the calendar already is:

Bremerton's Blackberry Festival - I'm an Oregon girl in heart. I love picking those blackberries!
Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival - I'm a sucker for lighthouses.
Fremont's Ocktober Fest - Seeing a trend with these festivals?
Paddleboarding on Lake Washington - On my list to do before it cold!
Women of Wonder 5k - Trying to do one a month and I've got to support my girl! Plus mimosas!

Outfit time, this top is from Nordstrom. It's by LUSH, which I think is one of my favorite brands because they are such easy to wear items! My jeans (I know y'all are surprised) are my Joe's Jeans. My favorite pair. They're always purchased on sale at Nordstrom Rack. I will forever love these jeans. Heels are my nude Nine West.

No joke, haven't worn pumps for 2 weeks! I destroyed my feet in these because I did too much. I walked all the way to the water front to sit and eat lunch by the water. I don't regret but my feet are still healing and I'll be taking it easy on the heels this week.

What are your plans for the end of summer??

My First Pair of Tory Burch Flats

Tory Burch 'Minnie' Travel Ballet Flat in Royal Tan

A few weeks ago I posted on Instagram about my new flats. I'm writing this post not to gloat but to talk about my experience with saving for something I have been wanting for a very long time.

Fun fact: I've wanted these flats for the past two years.

Every time I saw them, I would literally say to myself "someday, but not today". That day finally came and, I kid you not, it was a moment to be proud of. You see, there have been a lot of ups and downs through out the past two years. A lot of money saved and a lot of money spent on travel, to see family, to be with my grandmother who has been sick off and on for the past year.

Naturally, I bought these shoes and opened the box with the utmost care and delicacy. It was like picking up a baby. I almost rocked them. I literally jumped for joy and happiness in the middle of my dining room. The box it came in is beautiful. The colors are lovely and, since I bought them from Nordstrom, the box was shrink wrapped to cardboard and well packaged.

When I finally touched these flats, it was like everything I had worked so hard for was finally right in front of me.

Now, many of you are probably thinking "so what? They're shoes". Yes - to a lot of people, these are just shoes. To me, I don't spend a lot of money on shoes and clothes. My spare time used to be spent thrift shopping and cutting up clothes to be sewn into something new. Which is a hobby I've taken up again.

In short, these shoes are like butter. It's like putting your feet into an actual tub of butter. One that doesn't leave your feet greasy or uncomfortable. It has an amazing cushion and now I know why it has incredible reviews. If I could afford these flats in every color, I'd get them. Alas - maybe someday. But not today.

The brown is the ultimate Spring to Fall color. It matches so many items in my closet.

Sun Loved & Boyfriend Jeans

Things that should never be lied about:
  • Good popsicle
  • Sunshine
  • Really good iced coffee
  • Boyfriend jeans
Told you there would be another post on boyfriend jeans coming up. Here's the deal - they're so universal in any wardrobe. They don't even need to be sold to you, just go try a pair on.

These are Caslon jeans, purchased in a petite. Sometimes I think I should change this blog to be called Petite Peplums & Pie because I rarely buy anything in a regular size. Pants are always altered if they are a regular and trendy tops are long right now so it works out. The tank in my OOTD today is from Fred Meyer and it's very long. Almost too long for tucking into my jeans but it worked out in the end.

Wild hair and loads of sun today. This afternoon was filled with a nice walk around the city during lunch. Are you hungry in the summertime?

My body always seem so full or only wants light meals filled with fruit, veggies or luke warm soup. Strange, right?

Necklace is handmade from pieces that were purchased on one of my adventures to Northern Washington. My favorite knit cardi paired with Target's finest sandals. Also worn in my 4th of July post here. Totally swear by them.

Navy Bow Blouse & Boyfriend Jeans

This, dearies, is a favorite top that's been in my closet for years now. It comes out ever Spring, Summer and Fall. My happy months.

My closet doesn't have a lot of blue items in it. Green meshes much better with my olive skin but this navy matches a lot of pencil skirts, black slacks and, of course, my new favorite Boyfriend Jeans. This is my second post about my boyfriend jeans. To say "obsessed" may sound extreme but they're brilliant. They're worn about once a week, normally with heels. There's another post in the queue already.

The comfort is what makes me want a pair for every single season. Too bad my favorite pair were sold out during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Highly recommend Caslon jeans. They're amazing.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

I bought this palette as a birthday gift to myself. Yes - my birthday was at the beginning of June but this palette has gotten me through 2 whole months of craziness at work.

If you are looking for the perfect red palette that has shadows that blend then look no further. You've found it. Holy guac, friends. These shadows are exactly what I have been looking for for months. The amount of searches for "red eyeshadow palette" and youtube channels that were watched are borderline embarrassing - worth every second.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette - Left Side

Never have I ever seen such a warm palette before. There are a select few semi-cool toned colors, like Vermeer and Buon Fresco. They're cool toned compares to the other colors. The shades that have been used the most are: Burnt Orange blended into Primavera and Tempera. Venetian Red blended into Red Ochre and Vermeer.

The variations are fun and the palette is easy to experiment with. My dream is that they come out with another warm tone palette but this peachy rose box was everything my hard search methods could ask for.

My love for Sephora is strong. It is one of the few places I purchase make up. The other day I walked in because I didn't have time to do my make up that morning. I took part in their free mini eye makeover. It was the perfect lunch break.

Sephora sent me my birthday kit in the mail. A Tarte matte lip cream and blush. Both I love but the lip doesn't stay on very long which is a huge disappointment considering my Anastasia Beverly Hill liquid lips stay on for almost 9 hours. I love that brand. The perfect blend and the perfect lip!

Below is the palette with all of the samples I received with my box.

Pink Sweaters and Black Motos

Chilly morning kind of outfit. This outfit is a softer rocker version of who I am in the winter time. I tend to migrate towards all black outfits, like here. Keeping it light and still summery for when the sun decides to come out again.

This outfit is surprisingly warm. My pink sweater is super cute and regret not having a picture of the pack of it for this post but I will take more pictures when the weather truly turns. Though Summer is my favorite season, Fall is a very close runner up. Mostly due to layering clothes. Style is more fun in the Fall.

This faux black jacket is from H&M and was a quality purchase last year. Its a bit of a surprise that you haven't seen them in more posts. In fact, my Off the Shoulders Casual Friday post is the only one I can find. I'm shocked. Regardless, it was under $50 (and currently on sale!) and has been an awesome jacket. I'm super excited for my Nordstrom Anniversary leather jacket to show up. It's taking forever but it'll come soon and I'm hoping it's a good fit. Before I purchased it, all of the petite sizes went out in my size. So I had to buy a regular size in a size smaller. #shortgirlproblems
